I am hooked on this quenching smoothie. And, I got my husband hooked on it to. The mixture of fruits included in this smoothie gives it such a light, fruity flavor that you don’t realize how ultra nourishing it is. I like to throw in a bunch of extras to make this not only a smoothie, but a super nutritious one as well. That is the beauty of a plant-based diet. You have the privilege of not only consuming foods that are rich in nutrients which are vital to good health, but you also get to enjoy the wonderful flavors and textures plant-based foods have to offer.
As a start, make sure you have some frozen banana always on hand. It adds not only creaminess to this smoothie, but it also adds sweetness and some important nutritional benefit. This article provides some insight into the health benefits of the banana.
I like to add some natural, plant-based fiber to the mix. This raw fiber is vegan, gluten free, refined sugar free and full of superfood. Plus, it fills you up. Adding a scoop of this fiber or another one of your liking will transform this smoothie into a filling meal and will keep you feeling satiated for longer.
I also will, more often than not, add a green powder. Amazing Foods has several blends that offer varying nutrients. These powders are organic, plant-based, gluten free and have no added sugar. They are a great way to boost the nutrient content of your quenching smoothie and you won’t even know it is hiding in your glass. One scoop of powder equals 2 full servings of fruits and vegetables.
For an additional nutrient boost, I add ¼ cup of pure aloe vera juice per two-serving smoothie. Aloe is anti-inflammatory and good for gut health. This article provides some of the other health benefits of aloe vera juice in moderation.
Of course, if you would rather not add all of the supplementals I add to my smoothies, you can simply leave them out. The frozen fruits, almond milk and coconut water it contains will make a super delicious smoothie just the same!
Ingredients Needed for Quenching Smoothie
- ½ frozen banana
- ½ cup frozen mixed berries
- ½ cup frozen mango
- ½ cup frozen pineapple
- ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
- ½ cup pure coconut water
- ¼ cup pure aloe vera juice (optional)
- 1 scoop of Amazing Greens Superfood Powder (optional)
How to Prepare Quenching Smoothie
Put all ingredients into a blender. Blend at high speed until smooth. You may need a tamper to push the frozen fruits down into the blade to break them down. A Vitamix works great for smoothies. You may have to run it a couple of times to ensure the fruits are liquified.
