This smoothie is an anti-oxidant powerhouse. Berries are superfoods that are super healthy and nutritious. They provide so many important nutrients. Drinking this smoothie often is a great way to load up with vitamins and minerals in a healthy, delicious way.


Blueberries are a true superfood. They make any smoothie recipe a healthy smoothie recipe. They are rich in anti-oxidants and a host of vitamins and minerals. They are powerful little berries that can raise the hemoglobin and oxygen in the blood which in turn will help to strengthen your immune system.


Studies have shown that a low fat diet that is enriched with blueberries can cause one to have lower triglycerides, lower overall cholesterol, improve insulin levels and have lower levels of body fat.


When choosing blueberries, organic is best. Organically grown foods do not contain the pesticides that conventionally grown produce do. They contain more nutrients as they are grown in more nutrient rich soils. Not only is organic better for us, it is also better for the environment. When choosing your berries, look into the container. If the blueberries look soft and moldy, avoid that container and find one where the berries move freely and are plump and dry.


Also in this smoothie are fresh, organic raspberries. Raspberries are high in ellagic acid a compound that may inhibit cancer growth. It also contains polyphenols (which are also contained in green tea – another cancer fighter). For me that is hugely important as I am recovering from breast cancer. Any little boost to my immune system is a good one. And, raspberries are a delicious way to do it. Raspberries are high in fiber and manganese.


Both of these elements can help with weight loss. Fiber helps to make us feel fuller for longer by slowing the digestive process. The trace mineral manganese burns fat by helping to keep our metabolic rate high.


Strawberries are powerhouses in their own right. They contain a wide range of nutrients, including high levels of vitamin C. They fight free radicals with significant levels of phytonutrients and antioxidants. The antioxidant properties in strawberries are believed to be what makes them the gorgeous bright red color they are.


  • ½ cup of fresh blueberries
  • ½ cup of fresh raspberries
  • ½ cup of strawberries
  • 1 cup of coconut water for added electrolytes, potassium and yummy flavor (or regular purified water) 


Blend all ingredients in a powerful blender until smooth. Drink immediately.
