Creamy Plant-Based White Sauce

I don’t always want to eat tomato sauce when I make homemade pizza or lasagna. Although these dishes traditionally are prepared with tomato sauce, as I get older I find that consuming too much gives me agida! That is why I developed this delicious, easy-to-prepare white sauce. It is creamy, rich and delicious in any application where you want to try a new twist on an old tomato sauce recipe.

I used this sauce to make a lasagna recently and it was phenominal. Paired with Violife shredded mozzarella, Jovial gluten-free brown rice lasagna noodles and roasted veggies throughout, the layered masterpiece was really a nice departure from the traditional lasagna prepared with tomato sauce.

Ingredients Needed for Creamy Plant-Based White Sauce

1 cup raw cashews
3/4 cup vegetable broth
2 TBS Nutritional Yeast
1 clove garlic
1/2 Teaspoon dried Thyme
1/2 Teaspoon dried Rosemary
1/2 Teaspoon dried Sage
1 TBS Cashew Butter

How to Prepare Creamy Plant-Based White Sauce

Put all ingredients in a high-speed blender and process until creamy. Serve on your favorite gluten-free pasta, over veggies or in roasted veggie lasagna!
